What is a motion Picture producer? Let me explain in a very simplistic way just what a Motion Picture Producer is, and how to become a Motion Picture Producer.
Have you ever seen, heard, or seen something that make you think "I'd like to make a movie about that.". Well say you went with that idea. You thought of your friend that had a camera, and another friend that have some sound equipment and yet another friend that who's house would be perfect for shooting the movie.
But now your going to need a bit of money to get things that are gong to be needed to set up the shoot so you go to you Dad and tell him your idea, he likes it so he gives you the money you need.
Now your going to need some actors. So you and your friends start looking around for people that fit the parts you need to fill and would like to be in your film.
That's what a producer does. With your production, every thing seemed to fall in place. There were a lot of thing everyone learned alone the way, but at the end of the day your film was done.
Now a producer for a major motion picture id dealing with major talent, major money, and big boy studios. He's a person that's very well connected. You just don't walk off the street and become a major motion picture producer.
Theres no school you can go to, theres no degree you can flash, theres no union you can join. These are people that deal in millions of dollars, the major talent, and the major studios in the motion picture industry.
So how does someone become a producer? One way is by producing Independent Films. You start out by doing everything in small production, slowly working your way up to bigger production and then if your lucky one of your films hit and you rise to a level that you start meeting contacts in the major motion picture arena.
Robert Rodriguez's is one of these lucky people that started out with next to nothing made a film and was picked up by Hollywood. He has a "Ten Minute Film School " that shows you in about ten minutes how to make a film. But word has it on the street that Rodriguez's, was more like Jimi Hindrex and his guitar, sleeping with his camera and shooting just about everything that moved and didn't move. Ten minutes just doesn't cut it in the real world. You want a chance to get big, your gong to have to eat, drink, sleep, peep camera.
I say camera because that's where you start. Your a nobody trying to become someone. Get a camera and begin to shoot and edit tell you go beyond what happening today and start producing thing of tomorrow. Lot of work and then just maybe someone will notice. Oh, that's only after thousands of hours promoting your films.
Then once you have stunned everyone and they are dying to get to know who did the peace of wonderful work maybe then you can start to get to know the people you are going to need to know to become a producer.
Robert Rodriguez's did it. He's a director, producer, actor and more. He even has his own production company.
Started out with just 7 grand, and a mind that thinks way outside the box.
